Soup Kitchen
Vesco provided facilities to prepare up to 2400L soup a day. We are currently feeding about 820 people per day. The demand for the soup have almost doubled since start up in August 2002. The soup is distributed to 17 schools and 24 welfare organizations. The soup kitchen depends on donations from businesses and the public. (Also see sustainable feeding scheme under projects under investigation). 

Sports Development and Support
VCE has been appointed by Mittal Steel South Africa to administer and manage the funding of the the company’s funding of a number of sport subsections. A full time Sports Coordinator has been appointed to facilitate and promote sporting activities which encourage participation amongst previously disadvantaged individuals with a special emphasis being placed on Soccer  

Bophelong community upliftment project
Vesco is closely involved in helping the community of Bophelong to uplift themselves through various activities. Mittal Steel South Africa is a sponsor of the project. Activities include Carpentry, Baking, Sewing, Computer training, ABET training and other lifeskills 

Adult Basic Education and Training - “ABET”
Adult Basic Education and Training or ABET, as it is known in industry, is the development of lower skilled employees illiterate or semi-literate, through a formal structure of skills development, which equips them with a formal qualification. We have trained a substantial number of community members free of charge at the school. This programme has been made possible via a generous sponsorship fromMittal Steel South Africa. Satellite training facilities have been established at Bophelong and the squatters camp in Meyerton.

VCE Cloth
This project comprises of a fully fitted sewing centre. The aim of the programme is to equip learners with basic sewing skills to enable them to become independent entrepreneurs. A production line has been added to the project. Community members will be employed on a contract basis to help combat unemployment. The first major project is the manufacturing of high visibility Bibs for the SAPS.
